A career event for foreign students in Estonia

Early summer evening at the Theatre Centre Vaba Lava at Telliskivi Creative City- full of vibrant buzzing and inspired people – what’s up? aTalent Recruiting and Work in Estonia teamed up to organize one special event – Kickstart Your Career in Estonia – for foreign students studying in Estonia to bring them together with employers and to create long-term working relationships. 4 international companies attended the event – Veriff, Bolt, Studioworks, and Proekspert.

How aTalent contributed?

aTalent’s main contribution was creating the concept of the event, attracting top candidates and selecting the best candidates to take part in the event. To reach the right audience, we used targeted social media marketing, our university networks and also the help of several embassies. As a result, the number of candidates was greater than expected. According to the profile requirements set by the companies, we determined the top candidates who were invited to the event. The rest of the applicants got a polite feedback note from us wishing luck for the next time.

How the event unfolded

At the venue, all attendees were divided into equal groups, together with whom they went through each company’s workshop. Companies had prepared entertaining and engaging workshops to raise interest among the candidates and also to test their suitability for the given position. The groups had 30 minutes to unravel the tasks given to them and also to get acquainted with the company culture and available positions.

The event was kicked-off by Aino-Silvia Tali, who presented a motivating success story about her own career path. This was followed by a panel discussion led by Work in Estonia´s representative Leonardo Ortega with one representative from each company to get to know and learn more about participating companies. We added a little sparkle to this discussion by changing the roles, so we put employers into the interviewee role, where each representative had to answer already familiar questions from classic job interviews from the perspective of their own company.

After the official part, all participants had the opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere enjoying delicious snacks and drinks. That was a great chance for all to make new contacts for the future and people were definitely making use of that!
